Whatever direction a mindset takes, it is not a fixed personality trait, but a lever with which we can actively shape our lives.
At its core, mindset is the inner attitude with which we look at ourselves, at others and at the world. It determines how we assess challenges, how we make decisions and how we process setbacks. An open, growth-oriented mindset does not see mistakes as failure, but as a chance to learn. This creates more perseverance, creativity and a desire for the new.
A rigid mindset, by contrast, often leads to difficulties being seen as insurmountable and opportunities being missed. One’s own attitude has a direct effect on feelings, on behaviour and ultimately on quality of life. People with a positive basic attitude often experience more self-efficacy because they recognise their influence on situations and act actively, instead of letting themselves be determined only by external circumstances. This is not about sugar-coating problems, but about looking realistically and trusting oneself to develop. Mindset shapes relationships, professional success, health and personal well-being, because it determines how we deal with change and which possibilities we even perceive.
Consciously working on one’s own attitude through self-reflection, openness to feedback and the willingness to question habits can, in the long run, lead to more contentment, resilience and growth.
